A Painting That Is Its Own Documentation
(after John Baldessari)

Acrylic on Canvas, 68 x 56.5", 2010

In 1968, John Baldessari hired a sign painter to execute several text-based paintings. "A Painting That Is Its Own Documentation" listed the dates of it's conception, creation, and first exhibtion at the Molly Barnes Gallery. The painting has since been exhibited internationally and now includes four additional canvasses listing all of the venues where it has been displayed. My painting (which was also fabricated by a sign-painter in Los Angeles) follows Baldessari's format but includes dates relating to its own genesis in 2010.
