Saddam Holding Pistol With Nebuchadnezzar and Hammurabi

Acrylic on Canvas, 30 x 62", 2008

This painting contains many symbols relating to Arab innovations and Iraqi history.  Saddam is flanked by two kings of ancient Babylon: Nebuchadnezzar on the left and Hammurabi on the right. Nebuchadnezzar was responsible for building the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and magnificent gates at the entrances to the city.  Hammurabi enacted the Code of Hammurabi, one of the first sets of written law, circa 1760 BC.
